You need a strip of paper, a ruler, and five minutes.
Method one: measure your palm width
Bring your thumb across your palm to touch the base of your little finger, then measure straight across the widest part of the folded hand — knuckle to knuckle — with a ruler. That is your palm width. It is the quicker of the two methods and works well if someone can hold the ruler for you.
Method two: measure your hand circumference
With the thumb folded the same way, wrap a strip of paper around the widest part of the folded hand, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length flat against a ruler. That is your hand circumference. Read your number against the table below — it covers both palm width and circumference, so either method lands you on a size.

Treat the table as a starting point, not a verdict. Hands differ in softness and knuckle prominence; if your measurement lands on a boundary, we would rather you write to us with the number than guess. Between two sizes, most first-time wearers are happier with the larger — and if your bones are on the larger or thicker side, add one size.
If a bangle already fits you
The most accurate method of all: measure the inner diameter of a bangle that already fits well — the widest span from inner wall to inner wall, not including the stone. Lay it on a ruler, read the millimetres, done. It measures a proven fit rather than a prediction. All bangles in our shop are listed by inner diameter in millimetres.
How fit differs by shape
A Round bangle is the forgiving one — a few millimetres of room simply means it moves a little more. A Half Round, with its flat inner wall, sits steadier and wears closer at the same size. A Guifei oval — also called a concubine bangle — hugs the wrist, but it is listed by its wide span, which runs one to two millimetres larger than your round size even though it wears closer; the shape is explained fully in What is a Guifei bangle. As a reference point, a common round size is about 54 mm, and its Guifei equivalent about 57 mm. Slim stacking bangles follow round sizing.
Getting it on (and off)
A well-sized bangle does not glide on. The traditional method: a thin plastic bag or a little hand lotion, fingers folded, a slow, even push over the knuckles — never force, never a hard yank off. If a new bangle will not pass after a patient minute, stop; it is the wrong size, not a challenge. Mornings are easier than evenings, when hands swell slightly.
Frequently asked questions
Should a jade bangle be loose or tight?
It should pass over the hand with slow pressure and rest at the wrist with a finger’s width of play. Tight enough not to slide off the hand on its own; loose enough that it never pinches or leaves marks.
What if I am between sizes?
Choose the larger for a round bangle, and add a size if your bones are on the thicker side. For a Guifei oval, write to us with your measurement — the answer depends on your wrist bone, and we would rather look at the numbers with you than have a stone travel twice.
